Domestic workers in Bangladesh are among the most under-valued yet essential contributors to the countryโs economy.
They support households across the country, enabling working professionals and stay-at-home family members to manage daily responsibilities, while also contributing to the daily care of children and the elderly. Despite their critical role, many domestic workers, particularly women and girls, remain among the most invisible and least protected members of Bangladeshโs labor force.
They are often excluded from the digital financial strategies across the country.
As we mark ๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ช๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ปโ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฒ, it is important to recognize the contribution of domestic workers in Bangladesh and highlight the need for greater protection, recognition, and economic inclusion.
In her article, โThe Invisible Workforce Keeping Bangladesh Running: Why Domestic Workers Need Digital Financial Inclusion,โ Raisa Binte Hossain, Lead Program Manager, DataSense, explores how digital financial inclusion for domestic workers can improve economic security, strengthen financial independence, and promote empowerment for women workers across Bangladesh.
